I often have conversations with executives about how to handle people being late.
Once I give them the space to share how they feel about the other person being late to a meeting or lunch, we embrace the pause.
I encourage slipping into the Observer’s Chair.
Most people aren’t late on purpose.
When they arrive for the lunch or meeting, they know they are late. Greet them with your heart-centered qualities and a smile.
Most people will smile and say, ”sorry I am late.”
What if we changed the language?
When you show up late, how about greeting them with ”thanks for waiting.”
All parties know that you are late.
This is where logic trumps emotion.
